INTRODUCING A WATER CUTTING TABLE
If you are looking for a cutting solution that is impressive, portable, and sturdy, you might want to consider the cutting water table. The cutting water table is a multi-process cutting table that is purpose built for the EX-TRACK®CNC mechanized cutting system. It is equipped for oxyfuel cutting and plasma cutting when combined with an EX-TRAFIRE® power supply. This optimal size cutting table is ideal for smaller workshops, on-site cutting, open-house events, exhibitions or for training purposes.
A multi-process cutting solution
The water cutting table has many advantages over other types of cutting tables. First of all, considerably lower initial investments compared to a downdraft cutting table, the smaller space requirement in the workshop (no exhaust unit), the capture of fumes, and the safe quenching of dross.
The cutting water table is primarily designed for the EX-TRACK®CNC cutting system, which is compact and lightweight CNC cutting machine and can cut any shape on metal sheets. The EX-TRACK®CNC cutting system can perform both oxyfuel cutting and plasma cutting, depending on needs of the customer. For plasma cutting, the EX-TRAFIRE® power supplies are the ideal “plug and play” choice for EX-TRACK®CNC, and these plasma power supplies can cut up to 40 mm thick sheet metal with precision.
Filling and Draining the Tank
The water cutting table consists of a steel frame with adjustable feet for leveling. The waterbed has 27 replaceable slats. The waterbed is equipped with a 1 1/4” draining valve for easy filling and draining of the water. The water level in the tank should always be below the bottom of the material. It is recommended to be 5-10 mm below the bottom of the material for plasma cutting and 20 mm or more for oxy-fuel cutting. The maximum water level should be at the midpoint of the thickness of the material being cut – not above the top of the material. Higher water level means more splashing of the water during cutting due to the gas pressures. The minimum water level should be 30 mm above the bottom of the waterbed to protect the bottom from melting by the hot dross and plasma arc or flame.
The water in the tank serves several functions during cutting. First, it reduces the noise level by absorbing the sound waves generated by the cutting process. Second, it captures the fumes and dust that are produced by the melting and vaporization of the metal. Third, it safely quenches the dross and slag that fall into the water, preventing them from igniting or causing damage to the equipment or the operator. The water also helps to cool down the metal sheet and prevent warping or distortion.
